Coconut oil

Coconut oil is one of the most-used items in my home because it is simply so versatile! We use it for cooking, making homemade beauty products, and even for our dogs! (As a result their coats have never looked more beautiful!) We simply use it for almost everything.

We’ve tried a lot of different brands, but we keep coming back to these, as our favorites.

BTW – Do you know the difference??

Regular coconut oil is made from copra, which is dried coconut kernel. The copra is pressed and then the extracted. Oil is refined, bleached and deodorized to make it suitable for consumption.

Virgin coconut oil is extracted from the fresh milk of the coconut and is left unrefined.

Personally I LOVE coconut oil with taste – because it adds a little “palm-tree”-feeling to my coffee and whatever I add it too.

But if you prefer without, here are some options for you:

Nutiva Organic Coconut Oil, Refined
Garden of Life Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil – Unrefined

Other household oils we use frequently:

Olive oil

Kirkland Signature Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Bragg Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Other oils we love

Oh My Goddess – La Tourangelle makes the most wonderful oils. I especially love their walnut oil, but have tried and LOVED their avocado, roasted hazelnut and grapeseed oil as well! These are first of all great for making a quick dressing for your salads, but also just simply delicious with some freshly baked bread!

Maybe next time I’ll give their Macademia oil a try – OH MY!!!! 🙂

Ghee

Ghee, clarified butter, is a great choice when you are lactose intolerant or casein sensitive, as the process removes these allergens. We always have it in our pantry! To see what else is in my panty, visit my blog: www.naturemama.net
Banyan Botanicals Ghee

Ghee is clarified butter – butter that’s without any lactose- and casein and has a unique nutritional profile.
