Alright my dears – I am about to share my wonderous, natural “keep-away-all-colds” Remedy! My mother shared this with me shortly before I moved out somewhat 20 years ago (YIKES!), and I have made it every autumn since! It’s a bit of an acquired taste, but if you like a lemony or ginger ZING – you’ll definitely LOVE this! I dilute it down for Dianna (and the hubby!) 😉 but she drinks it just fine and it keeps her immune system on top!
Some great health benefits of Lemon are:
- It helps along your digestion and flushes out your system!
- Contains vitamin C and gives your immune system a little boost!
- Helping the body flush out toxins can lead to clearer skin – provided you keep hydrated at the same time!
I used my Crock Pot this time 🙂 (You can make it in a plain casserole as well, not to worry!)
If you prefer a really heavy ginger or lemon taste, add more or less lemon or ginger. I prefer this balance.
NatureMama’s Lemon & Ginger Health Tonic
Serves: 2 large bottles
Slice and cut lemons and ginger in to chunks!
Add everything to the Crock Pot and let it simmer for at least 4 hours.
I like to use organic citrus and ginger, simply because I’m using the peel as well – no yucky pesticides here!
Pour on to bottles and let cool in the fridge.
Pour and serve (add water to your taste!)
P.S. If you find that your juice is lacking a little color – you can add a dash of Tumeric! I find it adds just that last hit of color that makes the juice look a bit more delicious!
There are some awesome health benefits to adding the Tumeric as well:
- Supports digestion, the liver and is very high in antioxidants!
TIP! I also use Tumeric in my body scrubs or DIY beauty products – it’s great for teeth bleaching!
